The Embed block lets you add a live Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel spreadsheet directly onto your document's canvas. Instead of copying and pasting data that goes stale the moment your sheet changes, you can embed the sheet itself so it stays current.
How It Works
When you add an Embed block, you'll choose whether you're pulling in a Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel file. From there, you'll paste in an embed code that links back to your source sheet.
Keep in mind this is a one-way sync. That means updates to your spreadsheet will show up in your document, but nothing you change inside the embedded block will ever sync back to your original sheet.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Before You Begin
- Have your spreadsheet ready in either Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
- If you're not sure how to grab your embed code, use the Learn How link in the pop-up for guidance.
Adding the Block
- On the canvas page, add a new Embed block.
- Select either Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
- A pop-up will appear asking for your embed code.
Embedding Your Sheet
- On the embed page, decide whether you want to embed or link the entire document, or just a specific tab.
- Paste your embed or link code into the field.
- Click Embed.
- After a few moments, your sheet will appear in the block on the page. You can resize the block as needed, and if your sheet has multiple tabs, you can navigate between them right from the block.

FAQs
Will changes to my document affect my original spreadsheet?
No. This is a one-way sync, so anything changed within the document's embedded block will never sync back to your original Google Sheets or Excel file.
I'm using Microsoft Excel and I'm getting an error. What's going on?
This usually happens if you're using a personal OneDrive account rather than a business one. Excel embeds only work reliably with business OneDrive accounts. Unfortunately, we can't currently detect which type of account you're using, so a generic error message will show up either way. This is a Microsoft limitation.
