You can connect your Proposify account to an AI assistant, either Claude or ChatGPT, and then work on proposals, contacts and templates by asking in your own words instead of clicking through screens. Setup takes a few minutes.
What is the MCP connection?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard way for AI assistants to connect to other apps. Proposify's MCP connection lets your AI assistant take actions in your Proposify account when you ask it to. For example: "Add a new contact at Acme: Jane Doe, jane@acme.com, Head of Sales."
You ask in plain English, the assistant does the work in Proposify, and you see the result in Proposify. The steps and capabilities are the same whichever assistant you use; only the setup differs.
Is it secure?
- Your own permissions: The connection signs in with your Proposify login, so the assistant can only see and change what you already can.
- No separate copy: Proposify doesn't keep a separate copy of your data for the assistant.
- You approve access: Nothing connects until you sign in to Proposify and approve it, and you can disconnect at any time.
It works with both New Proposify (3.0) and Legacy Proposify (2.0).
Before you start
You'll use the same connector address - copy it exactly, with no extra spaces or characters:
https://mcp.proposify.com/mcp
Heads-up! There's no Connect button inside Proposify yet: you add the connection from your AI assistant's settings.
| Claude | ChatGPT | |
|---|---|---|
| Plans that can connect | All plans, including Free (Free is limited to one custom connector) | Paid plans with Developer mode on (not available on Free) |
| Admin step on business plans | On Team or Enterprise, a Claude Owner must add the connector first | On Business, Enterprise or Edu, an admin may need to turn on Developer mode or approve the connector |
| Where you add it | Connector settings → Add custom connector | Settings → Apps & Connectors |
Connect with Claude
- In Claude, open your connector settings and choose Add custom connector. (Team or Enterprise Owners: add it under Organization settings → Connectors, then each person connects their own Proposify account.)
- Paste the connector address:
https://mcp.proposify.com/mcp - Name it Proposify and click Add.
- Click Connect. A Proposify window opens.
- Sign in to Proposify if asked, then approve access.
For more on Claude's connector settings, see Claude's help article on custom connectors.
Connect with ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create to add a custom connector.
- Name it Proposify, paste
https://mcp.proposify.com/mcpas the server URL, and choose OAuth for authentication. - Save, then sign in to Proposify and approve access when asked.
- In each new chat, turn on the Proposify connector from the tools menu.
OpenAI moves these settings from time to time. If you can't find them, see OpenAI's help article on Developer mode.
Check that it's working
Start a new conversation and ask: "What can you do for me in Proposify?" Your assistant doesn't announce the connection on its own, so this is the quickest way to confirm it's on.
When the assistant uses Proposify, you'll see the step it's taking, such as proposify_create_document. You never need to type these names; they just show you what it did.
You don't need to reconnect when Proposify releases updates.
If the connection fails
- An error right after adding the connector: the address most likely has a small typo. The error comes from your assistant and may not mention Proposify, so it can look like an outage when it isn't. Remove the connector and add it again with the exact address.
- Can't find the option to add a connector: in Claude on a Team or Enterprise plan, ask your Claude Owner. In ChatGPT, check that Developer mode is on and that your plan supports it, or ask your workspace admin.
- The assistant ignores Proposify: make sure the connector is turned on for the conversation, then ask "What can you do for me in Proposify?"
Disconnect
In your assistant's connector settings, select the Proposify connector and choose Disconnect, Remove or Delete. The assistant can no longer reach your Proposify account, and nothing in Proposify is deleted. Workspace owners and admins can also remove it for their whole organization.
Tips for good results
- Be specific: Name the contact, template or due date you want.
- Point the assistant at a proposal with its link: It can't search your proposals by name yet, so paste the link from your browser's address bar.
- The assistant drafts, you finish: Open the proposal in Proposify and review it before you send it to a client.
We'd love your feedback
This is a new integration and we're improving it often. If something doesn't work as you expected, or you find a great use for it, let us know by emailing support@proposify.com. Include which assistant you used, what you typed, and the time it happened.
