Text Formatting
A breakdown of Proposify’s options to format the font, alignment, spacing, colour and more for your text.
Whether you’re building content from scratch or making a branding change, your text styles will need to be updated. We make it easy to style your text to make it stand out, look great, and fit your branding.
Menu Breakdown
There are two different menus to help you format your text: Type Styles Menu and the Text Toolbar.

The Type Styles Menu
Select Edit Styles and Formatting to update your Type Styles:
The Type Styles menu is your focused typography formatting tool:

Type Style |
Choose the type style you’re looking to change. If, for example, you want to change the colour of your table footer text, you would select "table footer" from this menu. |

Font Family |
Select a font from the Google Fonts Library. to add fonts from the font library to your proposals. |

Type Style Options |
Sets the font size, line height, font colour, styling options, and alignment. |

Margins |
Specifically for Page Flow textboxes. This sets the distance between the edge of the page and the edge of the embedded textbox, measured in pixels. |
TIP: Looking to change things as you see them? You can also click the font style from the preview pane to select the font style you’d like to change.
Once you've made your changes, select Save at the bottom of the menu to keep your changes.
The Text Toolbar
Once your default type styles are set, you can create individual styling options for certain pieces of text. Simply click into any text box, and the toolbar at the top of the editor will appear. There are several options available:

Paragraph Style |
Selects a pre-made style set from the Styles and Formatting menu. |

Font Size |
This changes the font size for the selected text in the text box. |

Font Colour |
Opens the colour menu. From here, input RGB colours, hex codes, or select a colour from our colour picker. |

Styling |
Bold, italicize, underline, or |

Line Height |
Adds additional line height as a multiple of whatever is set in the Font Styles menu. For example, if you set your line height to 20 pixels, and you select "1.5" in this Line Height dropdown, the selected paragraph will have a new line height of 30 pixels. |

Alignment |
Changes how your text is justified: to the right, to the left, centered, or none at all. |

Lists |
Set an ordered (with numbers) or unordered (with bullets) list. |

Create Link |
Turn selected text into a hyperlink, directing your client to a web page, email address, or specific section in your proposal. |

Clear Formatting |
Erase all individual formatting in the selected text and revert it to the default styles found in the Type Styles menu. |
Quick-Format Your Type Styles
A quick guide to updating your type styles to match your branding.
Design is important, and text is no different. Sometimes you’re in the zone and don’t want to resort to opening menus. Here’s how to apply and change styles while staying in the editor.
From the proposal or template’s editor, select a text box. This will reveal the top toolbar at the top of the editor:
Next, expand the Paragraph Style menu:
You’ll see a list of font styles and what they look like:
Don't see the triangles? You might not have "edit proposal" privileges. In that case, you won't be able to set global font settings. Talk to your account admin to have your role updated.
Detailed Changes
The style highlighted in blue indicates the current style in this paragraph. If you want to update one, you can hover over the triangle next to that and select “edit [text style]”:
Once selected, we’ll open the Styles and Formatting menu for this paragraph style:
You can find a full breakdown of these options here. Once you’ve changed the options, select Save. This will apply the new settings to every paragraph that uses this font style.
Quick-Updating Style
Sometimes making changes to the top toolbar makes something look nicer than your default text. To apply this change to a type style, Select Paragraph Style → [Style] → Update [style] to match:
IMPORTANT NOTE: This change will only affect copy that has the default style settings. If you’ve bolded or changed the colour of a line of text, you’ll need to clear the formatting:
Line Breaks
You may find that your line breaks are large, even when you set the line height much smaller. This is because we have two different types of line break: hard break and soft break.
A hard break occurs when you press enter/return on your keyboard. It makes a brand-new paragraph, adding an extra space between the new line and the old. This is great when making two separate statements:
A soft break is different. It keeps your content in the same paragraph but places the text on a new line. This is for when you want the two lines closely related and need the same formatting (like an address line). To add a soft return, press shift+enter/shift+return on your keyboard:
